About the Author

Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ!

So now it’s 2019 – and I’m still pissed off. And here I thought that George W. Bush was America’s worst nightmare. Silly me!! Donald John Trump makes George W. Bush look like a friggin’ amateur. He’s every single Republican “value” all squeezed into a 275 pound orange bag of shit:  greed, lust, mendacity, cruelty, racism, bigotry, hypocrisy, venality… have I missed any? (I’m 100% sure I have.)

I have a little hope, now, after the 2018 election… when the Democrats managed to pull off a minor miracle:  they regained control of the House, an achievement that flew in the face of every idiotic, pompous prediction from the pundits and the “news” media. I quit writing in this blog for five years or so, because it seemed that every single post I wrote was a rant about the same damned thing, or the same damned cast of characters. Just change the names…and voila! All that’s old is new again.

But I’m still here. Still rabblerousing. Still beating the shit out of every vile, insane, treasonous quisling I come across; mostly on Twitter these days. But thanks to a very kind compliment from one of my followers with regard to the posts in this blog, I’ve been re-inspired. At least, re-inspired to update my “About the Author” and the last post I wrote back in 2014.

So, dear reader, stay tuned, because God knows there’s a whole crap ton of stuff to rant about these days, and that whole new cast of characters – along with the old assholes, to be sure! Thanks for reading.

Leftside Annie, a semi-pro-wannabe-professional comedienne and writer living in the liberal hellhole, Los Angeles, has been pissed off for more than 10 years now, and has decided to speak up – and not mince words.

This blog is not for the faint of heart or for anyone who fears profanity. The opinions contained herein are the opinions of the author, and said author would like you to know that if her opinions piss you off, that’s too goddamned bad.

Enjoy. Or not.

It would be nice if the Republicans, the gunhumpers, the fanatic dominionist Christians, the teacrazies and anyone who wants to stone gay people would get the hell out of the way so we can get back on track here in America — and I can stop writing about shit that pisses me off and focus on my rom com screenplay.

I really like what you have to say. You need to put a “tweet” button on your blog so I can share it with my followers.

Isn’t it weird, in which only profane leftists find other profane leftists funny?
You live in LA – so what’s your excuse for dismal failure?

Funny, Craig, how only rightwing nutjob losers like you feel the need to insert yourself into other people’s lives and say nasty things, isn’t it? I suggest some psychotherapy. Or perhaps playing on the freeway.

      Besides, I haven’t failed – I pissed YOU off, didn’t I? MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!

Point #1: That some should be rich, shows that others may become rich, and, hence, is just encouragement to industry and enterprise.
        by Abraham Lincoln

Point #2: Yes, you should control your own body. Why does the government (and my money) have to pay for it? With rights comes responsibility.

      • Posted by leftsideannie on October 18, 2012 at 12:40 pm

Were you dropped on your head as a baby? That whole “government paying for contraception” is complete and utter BULLSHIT. Now, pay attention, gomer:

THE GOVERNMENT DOES ****NOT**** PAY FOR CONTRACEPTION.

My INSURANCE COMPANY covers contraception, you blithering moron, just like the INSURANCE COMPANY covers Viagra.

Get a clue – or get the hell off my blog.

p.s. You don’t want to be smacked down? Stop saying stupid shit.

Hey Kate. I always read your blog but I haven’t commented in more than a year. I recently redevoted myself to twitter and you were one of the first people I refollowed. After I responded to some of your tweets, you blocked me, called me a “moron,” and accused me of harassing you. I must say that I am perplexed. My tweets to your were always on topic and always respectful. We clearly do not share political ideologies but that is why I like the discussion. I learn nothing talking with people who are like-minded. Frankly, I didn’t deserve a block. But, I wish you well and regret we will not converse on Twitter. @mattryan5150

Matt: Let me explain why I blocked you. I have posted a world of evidence – linked and sourced – which proves my contention that the GOP is the party of racism, of bigotry and homophobia. Why on earth is it my responsibility to prove the obvious to you? Your reply to every post or tweet made it quite obvious to me that you 1) never bothered to follow up with my links and 2) even if you did, you’d disdain it as the “liberal media” and continue telling me that there’s no racism, bigotry or homophobia in the Republican Party.

It’s a complete and utter waste of my time to try and convince you of anything. Do you have any idea how frustrating that is? You keep coming back with the same reply – no matter what I say, no matter the quality and even the quantity of my arguments, your reply is always the same. Now, maybe YOU aren’t a bigot or a homophobe or a racist – but, my God, Matt – have you *heard* the ugly shit that Republicans are saying? Take Santorum for instance. He’s a pervert of the first order, obsessed with other peoples’ sex lives. He wants to tell me how to have sex, and that I shouldn’t have it at all because 1) I’m not married and 2) I’m too old to bear children, so any sex I have will be strictly recreational – and to Rick Santorum, that’s verboten.

I can’t make you see. And I tried. And tried. And failed. And failed. And I’m done, Matt. That’s why you got blocked, because I’m sick of arguing with someone who has their beliefs set in solid cement and nothing but a sledge hammer will change them even one single iota. You can’t even admit when I’m right.

      Tiresome. Useless. Boring.

Sorry, but that’s how it is.

Kate. You’ve certainly concluded a lot from a day and a half of twitter replies. Your justice is swift!

First, I have read many of your links- the thinkprogress.org article about Romney quoting “America the Beautiful,” a dailykos piece about Obama being the best president ever, the Dailybeast article on the death of Gabriel Santorum. I read them and don’t share their sentiment. Secondly, I never would say there is “no racism, bigotry or homophobia in the Republican Party.” But I also won’t pretend it is widespread.

Sen. Santorum’s views on privacy are wrong. Period. Consenting adults can do as they please in the privacy of their own homes. However, the attacks on his family’s grieving a lost child are wrong as well. I can hold both positions.

Hate speech knows no political party (see Reps. Steve Cohen and Alan Grayson). The hatred just comes in different forms and is directed at different targets.

      • Posted by Leftside Annie on January 9, 2012 at 6:56 pm

Ok. Tell me some quotes from Alan Grayson that constitute your idea of “hate.” Unvarnished naked brutal truth does NOT qualify as hate. Alan Grayson saying that the Republican idea of healthcare means “don’t get sick” is NOT hate speech. It’s truth.

I find you tiresome, Matt. This isn’t the first time we’ve met. In fact, we’ve had this conversation before. I didn’t like it then, and time hasn’t improved my outlook for this same old, same old tired BS. Make a real point. Post a link. Otherwise, I’m going to block you again – for just being tiresome.

“Grieving for a dead child” – by bringing home the dead body and making your young children hold it and kiss the corpse?? That’s just sick.

      • Kate,

First off – YOU ROCK GIRL !!!!! (I would say “You Go Girl” instead but I’m a guy & that’s just not the “Guy” thing to say) 🙂 *LOL!*

Anyway, the conversation you & Matt recalled above reminds me of my most conversation with Joshua (@devilson000 on Twitter)

As you’ve undoubtedly seen since you & I follow each other (Much appreciated BTW 🙂 ), I’ve tried REPEATEDLY (And sadly FAILED MISERABLY repeatedly) to get through to this guy who claims to have “Seen the light” (Which another one of my followers responded to him & me by saying he was BLINDED by it)

To put things in a nutshell, he responded with so much hate, he (Like Rush Limbaugh) didn’t have any respect for Sandra Fluke until I RT’d his comment to her (Whether she got it or not, I don’t know nor do I care)

Anyway, if you wanna have a little fun, take a look at his Twitter page (He doesn’t have a blog or other website that I can find)

Amazing stuff, isn’t it? Just imagine that it was only a decade ago THEY were asking why WE have so much hatred for America. Funny how things change when the shoe is on the other foot, isn’t it?

In the meantime, I’ll be sure to subscribe to your blog & add it to my friends list on my blog now that I have it too 🙂 ). I’ll also Tweet your blog out to all my other followers too

While I may not be profane in my posts on my blog, I like to believe I’m just as blunt & direct though 🙂 Feel free to subscribe

        Cheers 🙂

I don’t judge how others grieve. I’ll let you do that.

Whose truth, Kate? Whose “unvanished naked brutal truth”? To me, “K-street whore” is pretty hateful, no matter how you cut it.

Describing a lobbyist as a K-street whore is brutally descriptive – and accurate. Demanding investigations of Muslims who are American citizens is bigotry. I don’t read the National Review. I don’t understand why you posted that link. Surprisingly, I agree with it. Santorum is unhealthily obsessed with my sex life. And that of everyone else on this planet. It’s none of his goddamned business. He’s all about small government – except when it comes to my sex life and my control over my own body.

What you aren’t getting is the degree. The proportions. Yes, yes, yes, there are racists, bigots, homophobes and goddamned stupid people everywhere. But…my point is that MOST OF THEM are Republicans or teabaggers or Paulbots. And the fact that the entire slate of GOP candidates are trying to out-bigot, out-racist, out-homophobe each other – in public, on national tv and in decent company -is what makes me sick.

This is the same goddamned conversation we’ve had before. And I’m done. I’m tired of saying the same thing over and over to someone who doesn’t listen – or get it. The Republican Party has made bigotry, homophobia, xenophobia and fascism part and parcel of who they are. I’m not saying the Democrats are perfect; in fact I find some Dems every bit as loathesome as I find Santorum, Newt, Romney and Ron Paul. However, on the whole, the Democrats are for the middle class, inclusive of all religions – ALL religions and NO religion – and working toward making sure everyone has civil rights – as opposed to the Republicans trying to take my rights away from me, along with my voting privilege and my right to control my own body.

I’m done. If you tell me one more time “they’re both the same” – I will cut you off. Permanently. I mean it.

Me too! Found my way here from ‘Crooks and Liars’, googling who is running against Debbie Lesko in AZ District 9 and desiring to contribute to that campaign. (although I’m a dual citizen living in Canada) Well, Citizens United should have some serious ‘Blowback’.
Loved your exchange with Matt. However, you’ll need a bigger tool than a sledgehammer. Not even the new USS Gerald Ford would slay the ‘unalert and unknowledgeable citizenry’.
Best regards and keep up the good fight.

  11. Hello Kate. I came across your blog via twitter. Glad I did because I am a male version of you: a lefty, pissed off and willing to say it. When I read your exchange with the right winger who wouldn’t take his head our of his ass I felt I had to share a similar encounter with you:

What makes you tick? asks pissed-off reader

So, I got a message from a reader who said, ““Whenever I read an article calling George Bush a war criminal I have to stop and ask myself exactly what is it that makes people like you tick.” I don’t think he meant it as a compliment. Nonetheless, I felt obligated to provide some clarity to his“tick” thing so he can get on with his life. http://wp.me/p2dces-4l

  16. Hi Kate,

Enjoy your blog. Specifically, I really enjoy when a crusading type person refuses to take bullshit for an answer. As in your Nordstrom exchanges. Keep up the good work.

Btw, I consider myself an Evangelical Christian, and I respect your right to believe or not believe in anything you choose. That freedom is actually a Christian value, and the people who were giving you a hard time are just full of crap.

    Best to you,
